This week we are honored to have Dr. Betty Kilby Baldwin as she shares a poignant journey of desegregating a Virginia High School, expressing the daily struggles and resilience that kept her committed. Despite facing adversity and derogatory remarks, Dr. Kilby persevered, earning multiple degrees, including an honorary doctorate, emphasizing her intelligence and capability. Known for her historical autobiography "Wit, Will, and Walls" and co-authorship of "Cousins" with Phoebe Kilby, Dr. Baldwin's work delves into confronting the past and navigating paths to reconciliation. Featured in documentaries and holding a Doctorate of Humane Letters, her remarkable experiences underscore the ongoing importance of recognizing Black history.
