As many of you know, I designed and distribute a Filmmakers Well-Being Survey. I encourage all talent and filmmakers to participate. I also survey film sets that implement a Well-Being Producer. As demonstrated in a film project I participated in where the producers intentionally prioritized the crew and talent as humans, not as a means to an end. The post-survey results revealed that trust, belonging, and connection scores increased by up to 50% on our set compared to the general film population surveyed. This transformation demonstrates producers' profound impact as leaders: when creatives feel cared for, their creativity and productivity soar, ultimately enhancing the final product and improving the bottom line.

Understanding and prioritizing human connections and fostering a culture of meaning, trust, and connectedness is more vital than ever. Producers and leaders must embrace our humanity—practicing self-awareness, selflessness, and genuine compassion—to cultivate loyalty and engagement among permanent and transient teams. This approach resonates deeply with the emerging and evolved workforce, team/crew members seek fulfillment beyond mere compensation. My work in organizations and film sets confirms this. Producers and leaders who intentionally create environments that induce connection, emphasize well-being, and understand our human need to matter—add value and be valued—have more creative, productive, and happier teams. When we feel good, we do good!
